No New Federal Perkins Loans
The Department states the authority to award new Federal Perkins Loans to students has expired. Institutions that continue to service existing Perkins Loans must report all Perkins Loan activity on the institution's Fiscal Operations Report and Application to Participate (FISAP).
Institutions' 2026-27 Campus-Based Deadlines
Colleges and universities must submit multiple Campus-Based program forms and reports by specific dates to be considered for funding or waivers: Campus-Based Reallocation Form by September 1, 2026; FISAP (reporting 2025-26 data and requesting 2027-28 funds) by October 1, 2026 (with an original CEO signature mailed to the FISAP Administrator); Work Colleges program reports and applications (October 1, 2026; October 30, 2026 for new applicants; March 1, 2027 for returning applicants); FISAP edit corrections and the Perkins Cash on Hand update by December 15, 2026; waiver requests for underuse by February 1, 2027; and FWS community service expenditure waiver by April 19, 2027.
How to Submit and Proof of Timely Mailing
Electronic submissions must be completed and accepted by 11:59:00 p.m. Eastern Time on the applicable deadline date. Paper documents sent via U.S. Postal Service must be postmarked (or have a mail receipt stamped) by the deadline; acceptable proof includes a dated USPS postmark, dated mail receipt, or dated commercial courier shipping label. Hand-delivery of paper documents is not accepted.
