US Slaps Back at Cheap Silicon from Laos and Angola

Published Date: 4/9/2026

Notice

Summary

The U.S. found that cheap silicon metal from Laos and Angola is hurting American companies, so it’s taking action to protect them. Imports from Laos are both unfairly priced and subsidized, while Angola’s imports are sold below fair value. Thailand’s imports aren’t a big problem, so that case is closed. These changes could affect prices and trade starting soon, helping U.S. producers stay strong.
