Summary

NOAA is updating its West Coast Fisheries Participation Survey to make it quicker and easier by removing one question and adding multiple-choice answers to two others. About 900 fishermen and related folks will spend just 15 minutes each to help NOAA better understand fishing activities and improve fishery management. The survey extension is open for public comments for 30 more days, with no new costs involved.

Shorter West Coast Fisheries Survey

If you are one of about 908 West Coast fishermen or related individuals, NOAA will mail a voluntary survey that takes about 15 minutes to complete. The 2023 survey is being revised to remove a question about identity in underserved groups and to change two open-ended questions to multiple-choice to reduce response time; the collection totals 227 annual burden hours, repeats every three years, and imposes no new costs.
