Who Can Request Repatriation

Repatriation requests may be submitted by the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes, Oklahoma and the Wichita and Affiliated Tribes, Oklahoma, any lineal descendant, or any Indian Tribe or Native Hawaiian organization that shows cultural affiliation by a preponderance of the evidence. If competing requests are received, the Kansas State Historical Society must determine the most appropriate requestor; joint requests are treated as a single request.
