If you live in New Jersey, California, or Florida, EPA is reviewing an application from Google to release Wolbachia-infected Aedes albopictus male mosquitoes as an experimental use. Google requests authorization for three years in New Jersey and two years in California and Florida; in 2026 up to 16,000,000 Debug albo males may be released over up to 800 acres in New Jersey with up to 8,480 mg of active ingredient, and in 2027–2028 up to 16,000,000 Debug albo males per state may be released over up to 800 acres with up to 8,480 mg per state.
