FY2026 SEED Grant Competition Open
The Departments of Education and Labor are running the FY2026 Supporting Effective Educator Development (SEED) grant competition to fund evidence-based programs that prepare, develop, or enhance educator skills. Complete proposals must be submitted through Grants.gov by 11:59:59 p.m. Eastern time on June 1, 2026.
Who Can Apply: Eligible Applicant Types
Eligible applicants include institutions of higher education that provide evidence-based course materials, national nonprofit entities with a record of raising student outcomes, the Bureau of Indian Education, or partnerships that include one or more such institutions/nonprofits and a for-profit entity.
Absolute Priorities Define Funding Focus
The FY2026 competition sets four absolute priorities: Supporting Effective Teachers; Supporting Effective Principals and Other School Leaders; Promoting Evidence-Based Literacy; and Meaningful Learning Opportunities for Students. Projects that meet these absolute priorities are the focus of the grant competition.
Competitive Preferences Include AI and Career Pathways
The competition includes three competitive preference priorities: Returning Education to the States; Advancing Artificial Intelligence in Education; and Career Pathways and Workforce Readiness. Applicants that address these priorities may receive competitive preference in the FY2026 SEED awards.
