Ozone RACT Rules Target Western Michigan

The EPA proposed to approve revisions to Michigan Air Pollution Control Rules Parts 6 and 8 so Michigan can meet the 2015 ozone Reasonably Available Control Technology (RACT) requirements for the Western Michigan nonattainment areas: Berrien County and the western portions of Allegan and Muskegon counties. If you live or work in those areas, these approvals are meant to reduce ozone-forming pollutants (VOC and NOx) under the 2015 ozone standard.

Limits on VOCs from Products and Coatings

The EPA proposed to approve Michigan rules that limit volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions from consumer products and architectural and industrial maintenance coatings as SIP-strengthening measures for the Western Michigan nonattainment areas. These limits are intended to reduce smog-forming chemicals in Berrien County and the western parts of Allegan and Muskegon counties.
