Notice

Summary

The Election Assistance Commission is asking election officials to fill out the 2026 Election Administration and Voting Survey, which covers everything from voter registration to election technology. This helps improve how elections run and makes sure voting is smooth and fair. Officials need to send their comments or feedback by May 25, 2026, with no new costs involved.

States and localities must complete 2026 EAVS

If you are a state or local election official (including DC and U.S. territories), your office is expected to complete the 2026 Election Administration and Voting Survey (EAVS) once for the collection that covers the period from just after the 2024 Federal general election through the November 2026 Federal general election. The survey will be completed by 56 respondents, is biennial, and is estimated to take 83 hours per response (41.5 hours annualized), for a total annualized burden of 2,324 hours (4,648 hours per collection). Completing the survey also fulfills reporting requirements under the Help America Vote Act (HAVA), the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA), and the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA) where applicable.

EAC will share UOCAVA data with FVAP

The Election Assistance Commission will provide the UOCAVA (overseas and military voting) data collected in the 2026 EAVS to the Department of Defense's Federal Voting Assistance Program (FVAP) after data collection is completed. That data sharing reduces the burden on local election offices because FVAP will not have to perform a separate data collection for its reporting duties.
