Grand Targhee Can Expand on 694 Acres

The Forest Service amended the 1997 Targhee National Forest Plan to convert 694 acres to allow the Grand Targhee ski resort to expand. The 694 acres are being changed to Forest Plan Management Prescription Area 4.2 (Special Use Permit Recreation Sites) to accommodate a larger Special Use Permit boundary for the resort.

Protected Visual and Aquatic Zones Reclassified

The amendment converts 694 acres that were in Forest Plan Management Prescription areas 2.1.2 (Visual Quality Maintenance) and 2.8.3 (Aquatic Influence Zone) to Prescription Area 4.2 (Special Use Permit Recreation Sites). This change turns previously protected visual-quality and aquatic-influence areas into special recreation zones to accommodate the Grand Targhee expansion.
