Lebanon TPS Extended Six Months on Auto-Pilot

Published Date: 5/29/2026

Notice

Summary

Lebanon’s Temporary Protected Status (TPS) has been extended for six more months, from May 28 to November 27, 2026. This means Lebanese TPS holders can keep living and working in the U.S. without worry while the government reviews conditions back home. The extension happened automatically because recent events in Lebanon delayed the usual review process.

Lebanon TPS Extended Six Months

If you have Temporary Protected Status (TPS) based on Lebanon, your TPS designation is automatically extended from May 28, 2026 through November 27, 2026. This lets you continue to remain in the United States and be protected from removal for that six-month period, provided you still meet TPS eligibility requirements.

EADs Auto-Extended to November 27, 2026

If you already have a Lebanon TPS-based Employment Authorization Document (EAD) that shows Category A12 or C19 and a "Card Expires" date of May 27, 2026, your EAD is automatically extended through November 27, 2026 without any action. You may present that EAD as proof of work authorization through November 27, 2026.

Pending TPS/EAD Applications Preserved

If your Form I-821 (TPS) or a Lebanon TPS-related Form I-765 (EAD) was pending as of May 28, 2026, you do not need to file again; if approved, USCIS will grant TPS or issue an EAD valid through November 27, 2026. USCIS will issue a new EAD valid through November 27, 2026 for approved pending Form I-765s.

Option to File for an Updated EAD (Fees, Possible Delay)

You may file Form I-765 and pay the required fee(s) to obtain a new TPS-based EAD that shows an expiration date of November 27, 2026. USCIS warns that requests for a new EAD based on this six-month automatic extension may not be processed before November 27, 2026.

Employers Must Accept Auto-Extended EADs and Update I-9

If you are employed with an automatically extended TPS-related EAD, your employer must accept that EAD as a List A document for Form I-9 through November 27, 2026 and should update Section 2 to note "EAD EXT" and November 27, 2026. Employers may not require extra documents (like proof of Lebanese citizenship) and must reverify employment authorization by November 28, 2026 when the auto-extension ends.

State/Local Benefits May Require Extra Proof; SAVE Can Verify

For federal purposes an automatically extended EAD suffices, but state and local agencies may have different rules and may ask for documents showing TPS or work authorization. SAVE (the USCIS verification system) can be used to confirm TPS, and agencies may initiate SAVE queries using your A-Number, USCIS number, or Form I-94 number.
