Incinerator Operators Face New Compliance Rules

If you operate a commercial or industrial solid waste incinerator in South Carolina, you must follow new emission limits and meet monitoring, operating, recordkeeping, and reporting requirements starting June 29, 2026. The rules apply to units that began construction on or before June 4, 2010, or that began modification or reconstruction after June 4, 2010 but no later than August 7, 2013.

State Plan Now Federally Enforceable

South Carolina's CISWI state plan is federally enforceable as of June 29, 2026, and the State is authorized to implement and enforce the EPA Emissions Guidelines (EG). The EPA retains the authorities listed in 40 CFR 60.2542.
