Grantees Must Submit Standardized HIV Data

If you are a health department or community-based organization that receives federal HIV prevention funds, you must collect and report non-identifying, standardized evaluation data to CDC (agency-identifying information, intervention details, client demographics, and behavioral risk characteristics). The data collection includes searching existing sources, compiling documents, reviewing data, and entering or uploading data to an approved CDC system under OMB Control No. 0920-0696 (expiration 2028-01-31).

Data Variables Revised — New & Changed Fields

CDC is revising the NHM&E data elements: it will update Race and Ethnicity collection to align with OMB SPD-15, delete or modify some variables per Executive Orders, change PrEP-related variables, add antiretroviral therapy and post-exposure prophylaxis fields, include Mpox, tuberculosis, and Hepatitis B variables, and modify response options for Hepatitis C, Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, and Syphilis testing/treatment/referral. The revision also changes Essential Support Services screening/referral variables and adds new jurisdiction-level aggregate and qualitative variables.
