Survey intended to strengthen SSPs nationwide

CDC states the NSSSP will monitor and evaluate syringe services programs to support, sustain, and improve SSPs nationwide and to reduce infectious disease and other harms related to drug use. The 2026 survey revisions address more SSPs, updated prevention/testing/treatment modalities, additional SSP services, and more information on overdose prevention and reversals.

SSPs asked to complete 35‑minute survey

If you run a Syringe Services Program (SSP), CDC will invite up to 1,000 SSPs to complete the National Survey of Syringe Services Programs. The survey takes 35 minutes to complete, CDC estimates about 800 completed surveys if 20% decline, and requests OMB approval for 583 annual burden hours; there are no costs to respondents other than their time.
