Combine Annual RWP Audit With Other Reviews

If you are part of an SSOA that audits rail transit agency RWP programs, you may conduct the required annual RWP audit in conjunction with the review and approval of the RTA's Public Transportation Agency Safety Plan or any other review or audit. The rule keeps the requirement that an RWP audit must still occur annually and becomes effective July 6, 2026.

Submit RWP Programs With Annual Report

If you work for a State Safety Oversight Agency (SSOA), you can now submit the currently approved Rail Transit Roadway Worker Protection (RWP) program for each rail transit agency (RTA) in your jurisdiction to the Federal Transit Administration once a year with your annual report required by 49 CFR 674.39. This replaces the prior requirement to submit each RWP program within 30 calendar days of approval and takes effect July 6, 2026.
