Fingerprint Background Check Fee Hike

Starting October 1, 2026, the FBI raised fees for fingerprint-based criminal history checks used for employment, licensing, and certain contractor clearances. The general fingerprint submission fee increases from $12.00 to $15.00, volunteer fingerprint submissions increase from $10.00 to $13.00, and the corresponding CBSP fees increase from $10.00 to $13.00 (general) and $8.00 to $11.00 (volunteer).

Name-Based Check Fee Increase

Effective October 1, 2026, the FBI increased the fee for name-based criminal history checks used for noncriminal justice purposes from $1.00 to $1.75. This applies to authorized users requesting name-based CHRI for employment, licensing, and similar non-law-enforcement purposes.
