NY Metro PM2.5 Plan Approved

If you live or work in the New York metropolitan area (the Bronx, Kings, Nassau, New York, Orange, Queens, Richmond, Rockland, Suffolk, or Westchester counties), EPA approved New York’s Second Ten-Year Limited Maintenance Plan for the 2006 24-hour PM2.5 standard. The approval, effective July 13, 2026, confirms the area will be maintained in attainment for the 2006 24-hour PM2.5 National Ambient Air Quality Standard through the second 10-year maintenance period under Clean Air Act section 175A(b).

No New Federal Small-Business Costs

EPA states this approval merely adopts State law into the Federal SIP and does not impose additional Federal requirements. EPA certified that the action does not have a significant economic impact on a substantial number of small entities, so small businesses in New York will not face new federal compliance costs from this approval.
