U.S. Probes Cheap Air Compressors From Asia

Published Date: 6/18/2026

Notice

Summary

The U.S. government found that air compressors from China, Malaysia, and Vietnam might be hurting American businesses by being sold too cheaply or getting unfair government help. Because of this, they’re starting a big investigation to decide if special taxes or rules should be put in place. This could affect importers and buyers soon, with important decisions coming later this year.

USITC Finds Reasonable Indication of Injury

If you run a business that makes or imports air compressors, the U.S. International Trade Commission found a reasonable indication that U.S. industry is materially injured by imports of air compressors from China, Malaysia, and Vietnam (HTS subheading 8414.80.16). The Commission instituted countervailing and antidumping duty investigations effective April 30, 2026 and completed its preliminary determinations on June 15, 2026.

Industrial Users Can Participate

If you are an industrial user of air compressors, you have the right to appear as a party in these antidumping and countervailing duty investigations. If the product under investigation is sold at retail, representative consumer organizations also have the right to appear as parties.
