U.S. Slaps Antidumping Duties on Foreign Vehicle Chassis

Published Date: 6/18/2026

Notice

Summary

Starting June 18, 2026, the U.S. is putting extra taxes on certain vehicle chassis and parts from Mexico, Thailand, and Vietnam because they were sold here at unfairly low prices. This move helps American companies that make these parts by making imports a bit pricier. If you import or buy these chassis, expect some changes in costs and rules soon!

Analyzed Economic Effects

4 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 2 costs, 1 mixed.

Antidumping Orders Begin June 18, 2026

The Department of Commerce issued antidumping duty orders on certain vehicle chassis and subassemblies from Mexico, Thailand, and Vietnam that are applicable June 18, 2026. If you import these chassis, Commerce intends to direct U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to assess antidumping duties equal to the amount by which normal value exceeds export price for relevant entries.

Required Cash Deposit Rates Listed

CBP will require cash deposits equal to the estimated weighted-average dumping margins when imports resume suspension of liquidation. The listed rates include: Mexico — all-others 32.37%; Thailand — Dee Siam Manufacturing Co., Ltd. 72.85%, Panus Assembly Co., Ltd. 129.63%, all-others 72.85%; Vietnam — Thaco-related producers and Vietnam-wide entity 186.84%.

Which Import Dates Are Covered

Commerce will assess antidumping duties on relevant entries of chassis that were entered or withdrawn for consumption on or after September 29, 2025, the date of the Preliminary Determinations, except that entries on or after March 28, 2026 were liquidated without regard to antidumping duties because provisional measures expired on March 27, 2026. Suspension of liquidation and the collection of cash deposits resume on publication of the ITC's final determinations.

Intended Benefit to U.S. Chassis Makers

Commerce and the ITC found that U.S. industry is materially injured by less-than-fair-value imports and issued these orders to address that injury. The orders are intended to help American companies that make chassis and subassemblies by making covered imports subject to antidumping duties and cash deposits.
