FAFSA submission deadline — June 30, 2027
If you are applying for 2026-2027 federal student aid, your original or renewal FAFSA must be received by the Department's FAFSA Processing System (FPS) by June 30, 2027 (paper FAFSAs must be received at the address printed on the form by June 30, 2027).
Institution receipt of ISIR/FAFSA summary — by enrollment or Sep 18, 2027
For most Title IV programs, an ISIR or FAFSA Submission Summary must be received by the institution no later than the student's last date of enrollment for 2026-2027 or September 18, 2027, whichever is earlier; the ISIR/Submission Summary must include an official Student Aid Index (SAI) except for Parent PLUS loans and certain Direct Unsubsidized loans to dependent students.
FAFSA corrections deadline — September 11, 2027
Corrections to the FAFSA, notices of change of address or institution, and requests for duplicate FAFSA Submission Summaries must be received by the Department's FPS or at the address printed on the FAFSA by September 11, 2027 (electronic transactions must meet the 11:59 p.m. Central Time processing cutoff).
Verification deadlines and V4/V5 identity timing
Except for students in Verification Tracking Groups V4 and V5, verification documents must be received by the institution no later than 120 days after the student's last date of enrollment for 2026-2027 or September 18, 2027, whichever is earlier. For students in Verification Tracking Groups V4 or V5, institutions must submit identity verification results no later than 60 days after the institution's first request to the student.
Institution COD disbursement submission deadlines
Institutions must submit Pell Grant, Direct Loan, and TEACH Grant disbursement records to the Department's COD System no later than November 30, 2026 or 15 days after making a disbursement or becoming aware of a required adjustment, whichever is later. Final submission deadlines include September 30, 2027 for Pell/TEACH disbursement information and July 31, 2028 for Direct Loan disbursement information. Earliest disbursement dates listed include Pell Grant January 31, 2026; Direct Loan October 1, 2025; and TEACH Grant January 1, 2026; earliest anticipated/actual disbursement submissions begin April 26, 2026.
Consequences for late or missing institution submissions
An institution's failure to submit disbursement records within the required timeframe may cause the Department to reject all or part of the reported disbursement and may also result in an audit, program review finding, or initiation of an adverse action such as a fine or other penalty under 34 CFR part 668 subpart G.
Enrollment reporting frequency — at least every two months
Institutions must report enrollment information to the Secretary consistent with the NSLDS Enrollment Reporting Guide and the Secretary has determined institutions must report at least every two months.
