EPA Tentatively Approves NY Drinking Rules

The EPA has tentatively approved New York's revised Public Water System Supervision Program because New York adopted drinking water regulations for the Long Term 2 Enhanced Surface Water Treatment Rule and EPA found they meet all minimum Federal requirements and are no less stringent than Federal regulations. This tentative approval applies to New York State and is announced by EPA Region 2.

You can submit written comments or request a public hearing on EPA's tentative approval of New York's drinking water rule revisions. Comments or requests for a public hearing must be received by July 27, 2026 and should be submitted to the Regional Administrator, U.S. EPA Region 2 in New York.
