Permission Required to Transit Zone

Vessels may enter, move within, or exit the safety zone only with advance permission from the Captain of the Port Lake Michigan or a designated on-scene representative; approvals are granted on a case-by-case basis and those granted permission must follow all lawful orders. Requests must be made in advance and the COTP or representative may be contacted through the Coast Guard Sector Lake Michigan Command Center or via VHF-FM Channel 16.
