EPA Quietly Undoes Part of Its Own Pesticide Cancellation

Published Date: 6/29/2026

Notice

Summary

The EPA fixed a previous pesticide cancellation notice by removing some products that are no longer being canceled because their makers changed their minds. This update affects pesticide users, farmers, and companies by clarifying which products will still be available. The changes take effect immediately on June 29, 2026, so everyone knows exactly what’s happening without any surprise costs or confusion.

Analyzed Economic Effects

4 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 3 costs, 0 mixed.

Multiple Product Cancellations Take Effect

A set of pesticide products listed in Table 1 of the notice are cancelled and will no longer be registered as of June 29, 2026. If you use or buy pesticides (for example the products shown by registration numbers such as 228-335, 228-371, 499-556, 72056-2, and others listed in Table 1), those specific products will be removed under this action.

Glyphosate Tobacco Use Terminated

Registration 42750-58 (Glyphosate 62% isopropylamine salt) will have its tobacco use terminated under the amendment and is effective June 29, 2026. If you grow or manage tobacco crops, this specific registered use of glyphosate will no longer be allowed for that use.

Ethephon Residential/Turf Uses End

Registration 85678-4 (Ethephon 78% MUP) will have residential turf/lawns, institutional turf, parks, recreational fields, and sod farm uses terminated effective June 29, 2026. If you maintain residential lawns or manage turf facilities or sod farms, these specific uses of this ethephon product will no longer be permitted.

Three Registrations Removed

The registrant withdrawals for registration numbers 70060-12, 70060-13, and 70060-32 mean those products are NOT being cancelled and remain available. This correction is effective June 29, 2026 and clarifies availability for pesticide users, farmers, and companies.
