EPA Accepts Voluntary Pesticide Registration Cancellations

Published Date: 6/29/2026

Notice

Summary

The EPA got requests from companies to stop selling some pesticides or to stop using them for certain jobs. They’re asking the public to share thoughts by July 29, 2026, before making it official. This affects farmers, businesses, and anyone using these pesticides, and could change what products are available or how they’re used.

Analyzed Economic Effects

3 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 2 costs, 0 mixed.

Listed Pesticides May Be Cancelled

The EPA received requests from registrants to voluntarily cancel the registrations for the specific pesticide products listed in this notice. Unless substantive comments are filed or a registrant withdraws its request, EPA intends to issue orders cancelling those listed registrations after the close of the comment period (comments due July 29, 2026), which would limit future sale, distribution, or use of those products except as allowed in the final order.

Time Limits to Sell Existing Stocks

If EPA grants cancellations, registrants may be allowed to sell and distribute existing stocks of products listed in Table 1 for 1 year after the cancellation order's effective date (the publication date of the order). For products in Table 1A registrants requested 18 months to sell existing stocks, and for products with amended labels in Table 2 registrants may sell under previously approved labeling for 18 months after the cancellation order is published; others may sell or use existing stocks until supplies are exhausted if consistent with the label.

Short 30-Day Public Comment Window

EPA is accepting public comments on these voluntary cancellation and use-termination requests for 30 days, with comments due on or before July 29, 2026. The registrants listed in Table 2 requested that EPA waive the usual 180-day comment period, so EPA is proceeding with the 30-day window for these requests.
