Ceramic Vessel Available for Repatriation

The Denver Art Museum says a single ceramic (dog effigy) vessel is culturally affiliated with the Quapaw Nation and may be returned starting August 7, 2026. If you are a member of the Quapaw Nation or represent the tribe, you can request repatriation of this object after that date.

Who Can Request Return and How

Repatriation requests may be submitted by any of the Indian Tribes or Native Hawaiian organizations named in the notice, or by a lineal descendant or tribe not named who shows by a preponderance of the evidence they are affiliated. If competing requests arrive, the Denver Art Museum must decide the most appropriate requestor; joint requests count as a single request. Requests may be sent to the museum contact listed in the notice.
