No DOJ Penalty Increases in 2026

The Department of Justice will not raise its civil monetary penalties for the 2026 calendar year and will continue using the 2025 penalty levels. This follows OMB memorandum M-26-11 (April 17, 2026) after the Bureau of Labor Statistics could not produce October 2025 CPI-U data because of the October–November 2025 lapse in appropriations. The Department says it will review civil penalties again in 2027.
