Comment Period Extended to August 22, 2026

BOEM extended the public comment period for the Request for Information and Interest (RFI) about leasing Outer Continental Shelf minerals offshore Virginia. The RFI was published June 23, 2026 and comments are now due no later than August 22, 2026; comments already submitted do not need to be resubmitted.

How to Submit Indications of Interest

If you want to submit an indication of interest in commercial leasing, send it by email to [email protected] or by hard copy mail to BOEM, Marine Minerals Division, 45600 Woodland Road, Sterling, Virginia 20166. If you mail a hard copy, also include an electronic copy on a portable storage device, and do not submit indications of interest via the Federal eRulemaking Portal.

BOEM will post all comments it receives on regulations.gov unless a submitter labels the material confidential and BOEM determines an exemption from disclosure applies. Treatment of privileged, personal, or confidential information is described in section 8 of the June 23, 2026 RFI.
