In accordance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA), the Louisiana Division of Archaeology (LDOA) has completed an inventory of human remains and associated funerary objects and has determined that there is a cultural affiliation between the human remains and associated funerary objects and Indian Tribes or Native Hawaiian organizations in this notice.

Repatriation of Native American Remains
The Louisiana Division of Archaeology has identified human remains (at least one individual) from site 16JE36 (Fleming/Berthoud Cemetery, Jefferson Parish, LA) with associated funerary objects and determined cultural affiliation with specific Tribes. The Alabama-Coushatta Tribe of Texas; Chitimacha Tribe of Louisiana; Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana; Jena Band of Choctaw Indians; Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians; The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma; and the Tunica-Biloxi Indian Tribe are named, and repatriation may occur on or after August 31, 2026.
