Ownership Change of Huron–Yale Rail Line

If you ship goods on the Huron–Yale rail line in South Dakota (between milepost 160.33 at Huron and approximately milepost 145 at Yale, a distance of about 15.33 miles), Rapid City, Pierre & Eastern Railroad (RCPE) will acquire and operate the line effective September 5, 2026. RCPE says it will continue leasing-era operations and will not change current service or competition on the line.

Labor Notice Waiver and Employee Protections

The Board granted RCPE a waiver of the 60-day advance labor-notice requirement and found that no railroad employees would be adversely affected by RCPE's purchase of the Line. The Board also imposed the employee-protective conditions required by 49 U.S.C. 10902(d) so that any employees affected would remain protected.
