GSA is making a midyear adjustment to the mileage reimbursement rates for privately owned automobiles (POA), airplanes, and motorcycles as required by statute. Private Auto Mileage Rate Matches IRS

If you drive your own car for official federal travel, GSA updated the per-mile reimbursement to match the Internal Revenue Service single standard mileage rate. The new POV/POA rate applies to travel performed on or after July 1, 2026, through December 31, 2026.

Moving and Gov-Furnished Auto Mileage Adjusted

If you relocate for official federal purposes or use your privately owned vehicle when a Government-furnished automobile is available and authorized, GSA adjusted the POV standard mileage rate for moving and the POA rate in those circumstances to align with the IRS medical/moving mileage rate. These adjustments apply to moves and travel on or after July 1, 2026, through December 31, 2026.

Airplane and Motorcycle Rates Updated

If you use a privately owned airplane or motorcycle for official federal travel, GSA adjusted the mileage reimbursement rates for those vehicle types based on its independent cost reviews. The revised airplane and motorcycle rates are effective for travel performed on or after July 1, 2026, through December 31, 2026.
