Orano license would allow uranium enrichment
Orano applied for a license to build and operate the Project IKE Enrichment Facility in Roane County (Oak Ridge), Tennessee, to re-enrich depleted uranium hexafluoride (UF6) tails and to enrich natural-grade UF6 up to a maximum of 8-weight percent uranium-235.
Financial qualifications: 30% equity and funding requirements

60-day window to request a contested hearing
Any person whose interest may be affected has 60 days from this notice's publication (August 12, 2026) to file a request for a hearing and petition to intervene under the NRC rules; petitions filed after 60 days will not be considered except for good cause under 10 CFR 2.309(c)(1)(i)-(iii).
Licensing Board timing: 140 and 315 day deadlines
The Licensing Board must issue a contention-admissibility decision no later than 140 days from this Federal Register notice and the Commission expects a final Licensing Board decision within 315 days from the publication date (August 12, 2026).
