Faster Public Access to Steel Import Data
The Department will use the Steel Import License to monitor steel imports in real-time and provide the public with timely aggregated summaries. This shortens the current Census reporting lag (which can take up to 45 days after importation), giving interested parties and the public more time to respond to injurious sales.
Importers Must Submit Steel License
If you import steel, the Department of Commerce is collecting information using the Steel Import License (Form ITA-4141P). The collection covers 4,250 respondents, takes less than 10 minutes per response on average, and reports total burden of 78,820 hours (including 416 burden hours for low-value licenses). Submission is voluntary and occurs "on occasion" under OMB Control Number 0625-0245.
