The National Institute of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Department of Justice (DOJ), will be submitting the following information collection request to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for review and approval in accordance with the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995.

JFCP Reporting Time and Cost Burden

State, local, tribal governments, individuals/households, and private-sector institutions invited to respond to the Juvenile Facility Census Program will face an average of 6 hours per respondent to complete the JFCP. The Youth Population module averages 4 hours and the Facility Operations module averages 2 hours; estimated total respondents are 1,636 per module per year, total two-administration burden is 19,632 hours, average annual burden is 4,908 hours, and the estimated annual cost is $1,142,115 (two collection cycles: $4,568,460). The collection is voluntary and is a biennial data collection.

Consolidation Aims to Cut Burden

The two JFCP data collections (Youth Population module and Facility Operations module) are being consolidated to attain cost savings and reduce respondent burden during the two-year collection cycle. The consolidation is intended to streamline administration of the biennial JFCP.
