If you run an underground coal mine, MSHA’s information collection requires you to provide annual training to miners who may be exposed to diesel emissions, keep a record of that training, and maintain an inventory of diesel-powered equipment with information about each unit’s emission control or filtration system. The submission to OMB reports 146 respondents, 27,954 total responses, a total estimated annual time burden of 703 hours, and total estimated annual other costs of $24 under OMB Control Number 1219-0124; DOL seeks approval for three years.

Miners: annual diesel-emissions training required

If you work in an underground coal mine and may be exposed to diesel emissions, mine operators must provide you with annual training and keep records of that training. Operators must also keep an inventory of diesel-powered equipment including information about emission control or filtration systems.
