Museum to Return Eight Sacred Objects

Boston Children's Museum intends to repatriate eight sacred cultural items (including wooden bowls, a water container, a bowling stone, a tapa beater, a net holder, a poi pounder, and an octopus lure) that are affiliated with Hui Iwi Kuamoʻo. Repatriation may occur on or after September 23, 2026, and any lineal descendant, Indian Tribe, or Native Hawaiian organization may submit a written request demonstrating cultural affiliation by a preponderance of the evidence.
