Three-Day Suspension of Canadian Tariffs
If you import certain Canadian alcoholic beverages, cheeses (dairy), or motor vehicles, the additional ad valorem duties imposed by Proclamations 11046, 11047, and 11048 are suspended for a period of 3 days. The proclamation changes the duties' effective date to 12:01 a.m. Eastern on August 22, 2026 (replacing the prior effective date of August 19, 2026).
Refunds for Duties Collected
If implementation of this proclamation requires repayment, refunds of any duties collected under Proclamations 11046, 11047, or 11048 will be processed under applicable law and U.S. Customs and Border Protection's standard refund procedures. This ensures duties collected in the period covered by the suspension may be returned consistent with CBP practice.
