University Intends to Repatriate Four Items
California State University, Fullerton intends to repatriate four objects of cultural patrimony (Acc. #117.17.1–117.17.4), lithic tools collected near Ludlow in San Bernardino County, California. The university says repatriation to affiliated tribes may occur on or after September 30, 2026.
Who May Request Repatriation and Process
Any lineal descendant, Indian Tribe, or Native Hawaiian organization not already identified may submit a written request for repatriation by showing, by a preponderance of the evidence, cultural affiliation. If competing requests are received, California State University, Fullerton must decide the most appropriate requestor before repatriation; joint requests are treated as a single request.
