New Form to Assign VA Life Benefits

If you are a beneficiary of VA Government Life Insurance, VA Form 29-538 will let you formally request assigning your portion of the policy's death benefits to another descendant of the insured, under 38 U.S.C. 1918. If the death benefit is paid in installments, the contingent beneficiary must sign. The agency estimates 10 respondents annually with an average 5-minute response time, and comments are due by September 30, 2026.
