The America the Beautiful—The National Parks and Federal Recreational Lands Pass would not cover the proposed special recreation permit fee at the Sand Lake Recreation Area. If you hold that pass, you would still need to pay the proposed $8 per vehicle per day special recreation permit fee for the site during the specified holiday weekends.
$2 recreation.gov reservation transaction fee
Reservations for Sand Lake Recreation Area permits could be made online at recreation.gov or by calling (877) 444-6777, and reservations would cost $2.00 per reservation. The notice says the $2.00 is a transaction fee charged by the recreation.gov reservation platform and is not a Forest Service recreation fee; it is retained by the service provider.
Fee revenue spent locally to improve site
