Published Date: 9/9/2026

Notice

Summary

The VA is planning a new All Employee Survey to hear from its workers about leadership and job satisfaction. They want your thoughts on this survey by November 9, 2026, to make sure it’s useful and easy to complete. This survey helps the VA improve work life without costing employees extra time or money.

Analyzed Economic Effects

3 provisions identified: 2 benefits, 1 costs, 0 mixed.

VA Employees Asked to Take Annual AES

VA will run an annual, voluntary All Employee Survey (AES) of the VA workforce that estimates 352,000 responses per year. The agency estimates an average burden of 30 minutes per respondent and a total annual burden of 176,000 hours.

Survey Responses Kept Confidential and Anonymous

AES responses are confidential and anonymous: VA assigns a workgroup code that is not person-specific, and workgroup-level scores are only reported if at least five people respond to that workgroup to prevent attribution.

Core AES Items Reported to OPM for FEVS

VA will report aggregate results from ten required AES "Core Items" questions to the Office of Personnel Management as part of the Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey (FEVS); AES data will also support VA action planning and feedback from employees to leadership.
