Open Call: Join 20 BLM Advisory Councils
You can apply to join one of 20 Bureau of Land Management Resource Advisory Councils (RACs) that advise on public land use. Nominations (you may nominate yourself or others) must be received by October 26, 2026, and nominees must be residents of the State in which the RAC has jurisdiction. There is no cost to apply, and applications must include a completed RAC form, letters of reference, and any other qualifications information.
Who RAC Seats Are Reserved For
RAC membership must be balanced across three explicit categories of interests: (1) holders of federal grazing permits/rights-of-way/developed recreation/commercial timber/energy and mineral development; (2) nationally or regionally recognized environmental, dispersed recreation, archaeological/historical, or wild horse and burro interests; and (3) elected officials, State natural-resource agency employees, Indian tribe representatives, academicians in natural resources/natural sciences, or the public-at-large. BLM will evaluate nominees on education, training, experience, geographic knowledge, and commitment to collaborative decision-making.

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is proposing to streamline its decision-making process for authorizing the construction and operation of qualifying oil and gas production sites and their associated rights-of-way (ROWs) in the National Petroleum Reserve in Alaska (the Petroleum Reserve or NPR-A). This proposed rule would establish pre-defined criteria for defined and repeatable common activities with similar environmental effects that, when met by an applicant, would result in a streamlined permitting process for qualifying production sites.

The Bureau of the Census (Census Bureau) has ceased collection and production of the Annual Survey of State Government Tax Collections (STC). The Census Bureau has redirected its resources to prioritize the Annual Survey of State Government Finances (ASFIN) and the Quarterly Summary of State & Local Tax Revenue (QTAX). State government tax data previously produced through STC will continue to be made available through ASFIN and QTAX. The survey 2025 data release on April 15, 2026, was the final release.
