If you recently were in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Uganda, or South Sudan, CDC conducts public health entry screening at designated U.S. airports and may place you on a 21-day monitoring period after arrival. Airlines were instructed to redirect flights carrying persons who have recently traveled from or been present in DRC, Uganda, or South Sudan to Washington-Dulles International Airport (IAD) per the May 20, 2026 DHS instruction; CBP added Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta (ATL) and George Bush Intercontinental (IAH) on May 22, 2026, and John F. Kennedy International (JFK) on May 26, 2026. This rerouting applies to flights with persons who were in those countries in the prior 21 days.
CDC shares traveler contact info with states
CDC will share contact information and an initial public health exposure-risk assessment for travelers who were in outbreak areas during the 21 days before arrival with state and local health departments. State and local health departments use this information to prioritize follow-up and determine needed additional risk assessment or targeted public health measures.
Estimated respondent burden: 25,171 hours
CDC requests continued OMB approval for data collection with a total estimated annual burden of 25,171 hours. The notice lists form-level burdens: 54,750 traveler responses at 10 minutes each; 5,475 follow-up responses at 20 minutes each; 54,750 responses for a 15-minute traveler survey; 500 requests for exceptions at 1 hour each; and 100 airline feedback responses at 20 minutes each.
Certain travelers exempted from suspension
The suspension of introduction includes exceptions for U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, certain U.S. government personnel and military, case-by-case humanitarian or law enforcement exceptions, and Department of Homeland Security (DHS)-approved entry processes that use CDC-documented mitigation protocols. These groups are not covered by the general suspension orders.

For National Institute of Medical Research (NIMR), the award is approximately $2,000,000 for FFY 2026, with an expected total funding of approximately $10,000,000. For ASEAN+3 FETN Foundation, the award is approximately $500,000 in FFY 2026, with an expected total funding of approximately $2,500,000. The total 5-year period amount for the three recipients is $22,500,000, subject to the availability of funds. Funding amounts for years 2-5 will be set at continuation. The awards will support activities to protect Americans and people worldwide from public health threats by building capacity within their respective countries to strengthen public health preparedness; advancing early pathogen detection to mitigate the impact of global disease outbreaks and public health; and bolstering rapid response to global health emergencies.

This notice invites comment on the National Health Interview Survey (NHIS). This Extension is designed to include the continuation of current questionnaire content and data collection operations in 2027, as well as a systemic redesign of the NHIS to be implemented in 2028.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), within the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), is seeking nominations for membership on the World Trade Center (WTC) Health Program Scientific/Technical Advisory Committee (STAC), in accordance with provisions of the James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act of 2010, as amended. The STAC consists of 17 members including experts in fields associated with occupational medicine, pulmonary medicine, environmental medicine, environmental health, industrial hygiene, epidemiology, toxicology, and mental health, and representatives of WTC responders as well as representatives of certified-eligible WTC survivors.
