Public health staff face recurring data reporting hours
Data managers at participating clinics and state/local health departments must prepare and transmit validated datasets to CDC every other month. The notice lists specific burdens: 16 clinic abstractions (six transmissions at 4 hours each = 384 hours), 12 Strategy A jurisdiction data-management transmissions (six transmissions at 40 hours each = 2,880 hours), and 11 Strategy B jurisdiction transmissions (six transmissions at 40 hours each = 2,640 hours), contributing to a revised total annual burden of 7,237 hours for the project cycle.

If you are diagnosed with gonorrhea in one of the 11 Strategy B jurisdictions, CDC may randomly sample your case for an enhanced interview that takes about 10 minutes. The notice reports 187,833 gonorrhea cases in 2023 across those jurisdictions, a 7% random sample (about 13,148 cases) was selected previously, and CDC estimates respondents will produce about 1,083 total burden hours from interviews.
STI clinic patients may take a 5-minute survey
If you go to one of the participating STI clinics, you may be asked to complete a one-time clinic patient survey that lasts about 5 minutes. CDC expects about 3,000 clinic patients to be surveyed across funded sites, for a total of about 250 burden hours.

For ASEAN+3 FETN Foundation, the award is approximately $500,000 in FFY 2026, with an expected total funding of approximately $2,500,000. The total 5-year period amount for the three recipients is $22,500,000, subject to the availability of funds. Funding amounts for years 2-5 will be set at continuation. The awards will support activities to protect Americans and people worldwide from public health threats by building capacity within their respective countries to strengthen public health preparedness; advancing early pathogen detection to mitigate the impact of global disease outbreaks and public health; and bolstering rapid response to global health emergencies.
