Uniform strike-price standards for options

IEX is adopting Rule 20.140A to apply uniform, objective standards to the range of options series exercise (strike) prices available for trading. This change codifies Amendment 3 to the Options Listings Procedure Plan (OLPP) as a quote-mitigation measure and is intended to make strike price availability more consistent and easier to understand for traders and investors.

After‑market additions give earlier notice

The rule permits listing series based on after‑market trading and codifies procedures to allow series to be added without delaying trading, which should give market participants earlier notice about what options series will be available for trading the following day. The Exchange states this should help investors plan their options trading.

Immediate effective date for new rules

The Exchange filed the rule change on September 23, 2026, and the Commission designated the proposed rule change to be operative upon filing. The Exchange requested waiver of the 30‑day delay so the rule could become operative prior to October 2, 2026, when IEX Options would commence trading.

No additional costs to traders or exchange

The filing states the new rule codifies provisions already approved in the OLPP and similar rules of other exchanges and, per the filing summary, will take effect immediately with no extra costs for traders or the exchange.
