CR-TAP: New Portal to Report Trade Tech Problems

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is launching the Client Representative Technical Assistance Portal (CR-TAP) so trade participants can notify, identify, track, and communicate technical issues affecting Automated Broker Interface (ABI) and the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE). The portal is web‑based, accessible via the ACE Portal or at https://clientservicesportal.cbp.gov, and CBP says it will streamline operations, enhance communications, and improve documentation of technical issues.

Account Setup Requires EIN or SSN

To establish an ACE Portal account (used to access CR-TAP), participants must submit identifying information such as their name and either an employer identification number (EIN) or a social security number (SSN), and, if applicable, a statement certifying their capability to connect to the internet through the ACE Secure Data Portal at https://www.cbp.gov/trade/automated. CBP will use these accounts to allow trade participants to access the CR-TAP application.

Paperwork Burden: 18,000 Respondents, 4,500 Hours

CBP estimates the CR-TAP information collection will involve 18,000 respondents submitting an average of 3 responses per year (54,000 total annual responses), at an estimated 5 minutes per response, for a total annual burden of 4,500 hours. These estimates are part of CBP's Paperwork Reduction Act submission for the new collection (OMB Control Number 1651-0NEW).
