Notice

Summary

MX2 LLC is updating its rule about fixing trading mistakes to match new 23-hour, 5-day trading hours approved by regulators. This change affects traders using MX2’s platform by clarifying when trades can be corrected if they look wrong. The update kicks in right away with no extra costs, making trading smoother and fairer during extended hours.

Analyzed Economic Effects

3 provisions identified: 3 benefits, 0 costs, 0 mixed.

Overnight Price Bands and Percentage parameter added

MX2's rule amendments incorporate the LULD Plan's Overnight Price Bands and an Overnight Percentage Parameter into Rule 11.15; the LULD Operating Committee proposed that Overnight Price Bands initially be temporary static bands 20% above and below two reference points and the Commission approved the Overnight Price Bands on August 5, 2026. The rule text will reference the Overnight Percentage Parameter defined in Section VIII of the LULD Plan and the change becomes operative December 6, 2026.

Extend 'Price Band' trade protection overnight

MX2 is changing its clearly erroneous executions rule so that the Limit Up-Limit Down (LULD) protections apply during Overnight Protected Hours as well as Regular Trading Hours. Overnight Protected Hours are defined in the LULD Plan as 9:00 p.m. ET through 4:00 a.m. ET, and this change becomes operative at the start of 23/5 Trading on December 6, 2026. Under the amended rule, a transaction executed during LULD Protected Hours generally will not be eligible for clearly erroneous review if it was executed within the applicable Price Bands.

Clarifies review for non-LULD NMS stocks overnight

For NMS stocks that are not subject to the LULD Plan (for example, rights and warrants), MX2 will allow clearly erroneous review for executions during Overnight Protected Hours and will apply the same Numerical Guidelines that now apply to Pre-Market and Post-Market sessions. This change extends the current eligibility for clearly erroneous review during Regular Trading Hours to the overnight period and is operative December 6, 2026.
