Tax-exempt bonds for golf clubs
If enacted, this bill would let tax-exempt bond money be used for private or commercial golf courses and country clubs. It would lift the current ban and apply only to bonds issued after the date of enactment. For empowerment zone businesses and Opportunity Zones, the change would apply to tax years that start after enactment. For the empowerment zone job credit, it would apply to workers who start after enactment. Golf course operators and bond issuers could see lower borrowing costs, and investors could receive tax-exempt interest. This could reduce federal tax revenue.
