Faster geothermal drilling permit decisions
If enacted, permit applicants would get a written notice within 30 days after Interior receives a geothermal drilling application. If information is missing, the agency would tell the applicant what is needed. If the application is complete, Interior would issue a final decision within 30 days after the completeness notice. This would take effect upon enactment.
Annual geothermal lease sales for developers
If enacted, Interior would hold geothermal lease sales every year instead of every two years. If a sale is canceled or delayed, the agency would run a replacement sale the same year. At each sale, Interior would offer all nominated parcels that are eligible under the State’s resource plan. This would take effect upon enactment.
