Bill Overview
Analyzed Economic Effects
3 provisions identified: 2 benefits, 0 costs, 1 mixed.
DOE added to classified drone tracking
DOE officials would be included in decisions about using classified tracking for drones when relevant. DOE would also get the same accounting exception that other agencies use. This could help DOE manage drone work and finances. If enacted, it would take effect upon enactment.
Stronger drone defense at nuclear sites
DOE would have more authority to protect nuclear sites and related facilities from drones. It would cover sites that store, move, or use special nuclear material. It would also cover facilities that make non‑nuclear parts for nuclear weapons, including contractor sites. If enacted, it would take effect upon enactment.
DOE could use restricted foreign drones
The bill would let the Department of Energy buy and fly some drones from restricted foreign sources. It would also allow DOE to use federal funds for those drones. This mainly affects DOE and its contractors, not households. If enacted, it would take effect upon enactment.
