More mental health help when leaving the military

If enacted, the Transition Assistance Program would give more mental health information before you separate. It would list services from DoD, VA, and nonprofits. It would explain care for PTSD, brain injury, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, sleep issues, and suicidal thoughts. It would teach suicide warning signs and risks like childhood trauma, homelessness, job loss, and relationship strain. It would point to help for alcohol, prescription drugs, and opioid misuse. It would discuss loss of community, isolation, and other stress from leaving service. VA Solid Start would help eligible veterans who choose to enroll in VA health care. It would also explain VA mental health and counseling services.
