Show full summary
  • People returning from incarceration would gain new support options, including substance use disorder treatment, peer recovery services, case management, overdose education, overdose reversal medications, and reentry housing through State and Local Reentry Demonstration Projects.
  • Families and people in custody would see continued support because the bill would extend family-based substance abuse treatment grants and educational methods grants at prisons, jails, and juvenile facilities through 2026–2030.
  • Community groups and local programs would keep access to mentoring, transitional services, offender reentry substance abuse collaborations, and careers training demonstration grants because those authorizations would also be extended through 2026–2030.
